About our school

Richmond Public School is located along Windsor Street in Richmond, NSW.

Richmond is one of the five historic towns sited by Governor Macquarie in the Hawkesbury basin of Sydney. The school began as an educational institution in 1860 on a site along West Market Street and moved to its present location on the old Kamilaroi Homestead in 1928.

Our school motto is 'excelsior' which means 'to strive for excellence'. Our mission is to develop and promote personal child responsibility and growth in each student by giving every child the best opportunity through quality teaching and learning.

The school caters for a wide range of needs and abilities. Along with mainstream Kindergarten to Year 6 classes, the school has opportunity classes and hosts a satellite class from the Autism Spectrum Australia (ASPECT).

Richmond Public School is a wonderful learning environment where each child is encouraged to succeed, guided by professional and caring teachers, excellent learning programs and a highly supportive parent community. Choosing to send your child to Richmond Public School is a great start to your child's education.

Areas of focus at Richmond Public School include high achievement in literacy and numeracy, technology as an integral tool in teaching and learning, an active participation in sport and various sporting competitions, providing a range of learning experiences to develop a high level of knowledge regarding the world around us and ensuring our students play and learn within a caring, happy, productive and safe environment.

Our school continually aims at improving all aspects of our learning environment. We understand that each student is unique, and students learn in a variety of ways, and we therefore provide extensive opportunities ranging from targeted intervention through to our enrichment programs.

Richmond Public School is a community school. We are proud of the strong links that have developed between the parent body and the school, and it is with this strong partnership that our students are able to develop into active, valuable members of our community.
